MHS Spanish IV/V classes are reading a novel written in Spanish that takes place in Buenos Aires, Argentina and exploring Argentine culture through dance and music. Last week, they visited Gabrielle's Step by Step Dance Studio located in Belleville, IL to partake in tango lessons, the national dance of Argentina. They also dabbled in the merengue! Students performed excellently learning new dance movies to authentic music in Spanish. #MHSTheHighSchoolOfChoice
The MHS & MMS Life Skills classes visited the Mascoutah Fire Department where they learned what the fire department, EMS & police department do in our community. They also collected donations for the local food pantry and got to deliver them in person. #MHSTheHighSchoolofChoice

MHS FBLA participated in the Southwestern Area Conference at McKendree. 52 members competed in events in 60 categories, such as Cyber Security, Accounting and Business Management, and 44 members placed in the Top 3 in their event. Congrats to all! #MHSTheHighSchoolOfChoice

The MHS Ecology Club recently explored Clifftop’s Paul Wightman Subterranean Nature Preserve (PWSNP) located south of Waterloo. The nature preserve covers 535 acres with 300 acres planted in native prairie grasses and flowers. #MHSTheHighSchoolOfChoice
MHS Drama and Stagecraft classes recently took a field trip to the Webster Conservatory of the Arts to watch a performance of Romeo and Juliet, a backstage tour of the costume and design studios, witness an iron pour and view the art gallery. #MHSTheHighSchoolOfChoice
Ms. Chrissy Velino has been nominated by colleague, Ms. Dibadj, for the MHS Tribe 5 Award!! The award recognizes staff members that EMPOWER students, show COMPASSION, SERVICE to others, PATIENCE and VISION. Students absolutely adore Ms. Velino. She empowers them through kindness, hard work, fun, and encouragement on a daily basis. Her commitment to making MHS a better place is downright impressive. You can hear her laugh down the hall and it is hard to ever catch her without a big smile. Everyone who has had an interaction or experience with Ms. Velino is better for it.
