Throughout the week, our staff was recognized with special treats and events to show just how much they are appreciated. Monday kicked off with “Room Service,” as members of the administrative team delivered treats right to classrooms and offices. Tuesday featured a delicious Taco Bar prepared by Mr. Long and his talented Foods & Culinary students. On Wednesday, the MHS Student Council treated our staff to a fantastic lunch as a thank you for all they do. Thursday brought even more surprises with an awesome Mascoutah t-shirt and then Friday with a grab-and-go breakfast to start the day! Each day, a lucky staff member was drawn out of a hat for a gift card as well!!
A huge THANK YOU to Kappert Construction Company and Warrior Logo Wear for sponsoring Thursday’s surprises and Friday's breakfast, as well as for the continued support you show our staff not only during Teacher Appreciation Week, but all year long.
We are so grateful for the passion, care, and commitment our MHS staff bring to students every day!!

🏆 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! 🏆
The Chief’s Guard AFJROTC Drill Team from Mascoutah High School has earned an incredible 1st Place finish in the Unarmed Regulation Advanced Division at the National High School All-Service Drill Meet!
Competing against the absolute best of the best from across the world, representing all military branches, these cadets rose to the top through discipline, precision, and relentless teamwork. This outstanding performance reflects countless hours of practice and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
The team was led by sophomore Cadet 1st Lt Vivian Christian, whose leadership helped guide this group to the national stage—but this victory was truly a total team effort. Congratulations to:
Breanna Artigas, Sean Carter, Saniyah Tavake, Cere Cruz, Angie Troutt, Landon Knight, Emma Gora, Logan Howell, Christian Vanderzel, Felix Santana, McKaylynn Perrino, and Ayana Marple.
We also want to recognize our Color Guard, who delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 6th place—just 11 points shy of 3rd in an incredibly competitive field.
The level of competition was nothing short of amazing, and our cadets represented Mascoutah with pride, professionalism, and excellence every step of the way.
💙 We couldn’t be more proud—well done, Chief's Guard!

We are proud to honor and celebrate the strength, resilience and sacrifice of our military connected students and families! This week, we came together as a school community to HONOR. SUPPORT. CELEBRATE. From kicking things off with Red, White & YOU Day on Monday, to sharing gratitude through Messages That Matter on Tuesday, to Learning and growing with Did You Know? Day on Wednesday, and capturing moments during our Snapshot of Support on Thursday, and of course finishing strong by Purple-ing Up! in appreciation of our military families on Friday! Each day was a reminder that our military children inspire us with their courage and strength. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this week meaningful for our students.
Check out a Week of the Military Child story from our Mascoutah Spirit staff that highlights the thoughts and feelings of a couple of our amazing military students: https://bit.ly/4t6T1FZ

With their last days approaching, these SENIORS were rewarded with a $20 Amazon gift card for having PERFECT ATTENDANCE throughout the entire school year. Pictured: Roy Miller, Dante Owens, Olivia Lubang, Ben Woodburn, Shea Groves, Grace Bearth and La'Kayla Moore. Great job! #MHSTheHighSchoolOfChoice

Chemistry students tie-dyed a variety of shirts, bandanas, and sweatshirts. Students learned that pre-soaking the fabric in a base allows permanent covalent bonds to form between molecules in the dye and cellulose molecules in the fabric. The result? Bright and cheerful clothing just in time for summer!

MHS Shoe Drive Update!
A huge thank you to the Mascoutah community for helping us reach our goal in the 2026 shoe drive. We collected over 3,500 pairs of shoes!
Special thanks to the businesses, churches, libraries, and schools that hosted collection bins and tolerated a little extra “organized messy chaos.” Your support made a huge difference, and we are very grateful.
We’re incredibly proud of our shoe drive committee students, who dedicated countless hours organizing, collecting, and counting donations outside of school.
The funds raised will make a real impact for the children in Peru through Conapac Adopt A School and Cooperar Peru, a cause our students connected with over the summer on our travel abroad trip, and wanted to support. (https://www.conapac.org/adopt-a-school and https://cooperarperu.org/en/)
We’re also excited for summer 2027, when our students will travel to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, creating new connections with communities abroad. Contact Kira Budde for more information.
Thank you all for making this possible!
